The club’s players will wear black armbands in Saturday’s game at Stoke in tribute to Campbell, who was Chelsea boss from 1988 to 1991 and guided the club to promotion from the Second Division in
1989 at the first time of asking, beginning a top-flight stint that continues to this day.
“Chelsea Football Club is greatly saddened to announce the passing of our former manager Bobby Campbell at the age of 78,” the Barclays Premier League champions said.
