Shocking: Syrian Baby Delivered Alive After Shrapnel Wounding

Footage has emerged of Syrian medical teams saving a pregnant woman and her unborn child after they were wounded by shrapnel.

The video posted by the Aleppo City Medical Council on Facebook on Friday showed the doctors performing a caesarean section on the woman to deliver the child.

The daughter is then resuscitated and a piece of shrapnel is pulled from her brow.

It is not clear from the video when the incident took place, but the authors of the Facebook post accompanying the footage said both the mother and child were alive and in good condition.

The author of the post also blamed the attack that injured the pair on a missile attack, which it said was carried out by "the criminal regime, which is trying to stop life in the city of Aleppo".

Aleppo is Syria's largest city and is divided between Syrian opposition fighters, the Syrian government and Kurdish forces.
