Ghana Celebrates Dr. Kwame Nkrumah Today

In commemoration of Founder’s Day, a day set aside to honour Ghana’s first President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, government has urged all Ghanaians to reflect on the contribution of Dr. Nkrumah to the growth of the country.

“We call on all Ghanaians to soberly reflect on the life and times of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the unique man of valour who led Ghana to independence, initiated and propelled Ghana on a path of socio-economic transformation and worked tirelessly to ensure freedom for the oppressed”, a statement signed by the Minister for Communications, Dr Edward Omane Boamah stated.
September 21st of each year, Founder’s Day, which is the birthday of Dr. Nkrumah, is celebrated as a holiday in Ghana in honour of the country’s first President for his unparalleled selflessness, dedication to the liberation of Ghana and Africa and his unending spirit of no-compromise in so far as Ghana’s interest was at stake.

Dr. Omane Boamah noted that President John Dramani Mahama has through hard work, perseverance, tolerance and patriotic zeal, recaptured the vision to transform the structure of the Ghanaian economy.
“We are working towards the attainment of a transformed economy. Working together as one people with a common and uniform destiny we shall succeed in this Agenda for Transformation”, the statement ended.
