Gov't Announces end to 'Dumsor'

Government has announced an official end to the four-year long load shedding exercise which plagued the country.

In a statement signed by the head of Public Affairs of the Ministry of Power Kweku Sersah-Johnson, Wednesday, government thanked Ghanaians for their patience during the difficult times.
The announcement comes two days before the January 1 2016 deadline given by the Power Minister Dr Kwabena Donkor. He had vowed to resign if the perennial power crisis continued after the end of the year.

Lancashire and Yorkshire are bearing the brunt of flooding, with 15 severe warnings in place and homes evacuated, as heavy rain lashes parts of the UK.

Three children have been burnt to death after the kiosk in which they lived with their mother caught fire.

According to media reports, the mother of the children around 2am locked them up to go and buy bread but upon her return, the kiosk in which the children were sleeping had caught fire.
She called for help but when they managed to break into the burning kiosk, the children had been killed by the fire.

A gas tanker truck ignited an inferno at a crowded industrial gas plant in Nigeria, reportedly killing more than 100 people lining up to refill their cooking gas cylinders.
